The Logitech G29 is one of the best driving wheels for ETS2, offering an entry-level option that delivers an immersive experience for both ETS2 and ATS thanks to its impressive Force Feedback features. You can feel every bump in the road as if you’re actually driving a truck, and it’s definitely a game changer.
You might be wondering how to use it with ETS2 or ATS. The setup is a breeze—just plug it in using the USB, connect the power cord included with the Logitech G29, and once you switch it on, it will run a quick self-test. After that, you’re all set to hit the road.
Setting it up for ETS2 and ATS follows the same procedure, so it’s not confusing. Once you’ve successfully done it with ETS2, you can be completely confident it will work just as well with ATS, as long as you set it up correctly and follow the exact same steps you used for ETS2.
Once you've made sure all the Logitech G29 cables are properly connected and secure, you can move on to ETS2 or ATS. Simply launch the game and head to the Options Menu.
After clicking Options, go to the Controls Tab, where you can either run the Wizard or set it up manually. However, it’s recommended to run the Wizard to ensure everything works smoothly with your Logitech G29.
Ensure that under Input Type, your Logitech G29 is properly recognized by ETS2/ATS. From the dropdown menu, you can select your driving wheel + keyboard, allowing you to use both the wheel and the keyboard during gameplay.
Next, open the Input Wizard by clicking the button below the screen, and a window will pop up. Then, click the Controls as shown in the image below.
Simple Automatic
If you prefer an easier way to drive, you can go with Simple Automatic. The only catch with this setting is that when you press the accelerator, the truck moves forward, and when you hit the brake, it stops. Press the brake again, and it automatically switches to reverse. If you’re fine with that, it could be a good option for you.
Real Automatic
The Real Automatic option mimics the feel of a real automatic transmission, even though the Logitech G29 shifter doesn’t have dedicated D or R positions. To go forward, you move the lever into the assigned “Drive” slot (usually 3rd gear), which triggers automatic acceleration. For reverse, you shift the lever down (usually 4th gear), which engages reverse. The accelerator and brake pedals work separately, just like in an actual automatic car.
Sequential and H-Shifter
If you’re an experienced driver familiar with manual transmissions, you can choose these two options for a more immersive truck-driving experience in ETS2 and ATS. In my case, I went with Real Automatic for a more relaxed and easier way to handle the trucks in both games.
By default, the game should detect your Steering Axis, Acceleration Axis, Brake Axis, and Clutch Axis. If your Logitech G29 shows different values than those in the image, it’s possible that ETS2 and ATS aren’t detecting it correctly. In that case, download and install the Logitech G Hub app on your PC. This will install the necessary driver for your Logitech G29 so the game can detect it properly.
Assuming everything is working perfectly, simply click the Next button.
Then, click the Next button once more, and voila! Everything is now successfully configured, and you can enjoy playing ETS2 and ATS with your Logitech G29.
I hope this article helps you install and configure your Logitech G29 with ETS2 and ATS. Next time, I’ll share how I mapped the buttons on my Logitech G29 in the following article. See you then!
