Fear makes us weak. It keeps our heart and mind trapped in unrealistic expectations, leading to devastation. Fear is like a lion trying to seize us and drag us into a miserable world, paralyzing us and destroying our faith, hope, and trust in God. May the Lord give us strength to overcome all the fears in our heart.
If we allow ourselves to be consumed by fear, our hope and trust in the Lord will completely vanish. When we can no longer fight it, this may lead to anxiety and depression. We become overwhelmed by worries that, upon reflection, reveal all our fears to be merely unrealistic fears.
When my wife and I were still lovers, whenever we were not together, I always thought of her. Sometimes everything felt good, but there were times when it suddenly changed to something that upset my heart. I was always worried about her safety, and sometimes insecurities struck me, making me worry too much that she might be entertaining another man because she’s beautiful and I am not a good-looking guy. As a result, I kept bothering myself with so many "what ifs" that, in reality, weren’t happening. I was only hurting myself because of my unrealistic thoughts that she might be cheating on me.
That’s why, for me, jealousy shouldn’t have a place in our hearts. It’s not true that feeling jealous means you love someone. Jealousy often stems from our own selfishness and obsessions with that special person. Many relationships, instead of improving over time, become destroyed because of jealousy rooted in unrealistic fears. If you love someone, you have to trust them, and you must learn to trust them. When you learn to trust, true love comes along. True love founded on trust is like a stronghold that no one can destroy. This trust is essential because it frees us from the chains of doubt and fear, allowing love to grow authentically and resiliently.
There was a viral video on social media about a girl who was brutally harmed by her boyfriend because he suspected she was having an affair. Instead of talking to her and sorting things out, he beat her so badly that her face was unrecognizable. Such incidents are more likely to happen when a person, whether male or female, is carried away by their emotions instead of showing compassion and understanding. For me, it only shows that the man doesn’t really love her, because if he really loved her, he wouldn’t hurt her. In my opinion, he did it because his pride was wounded.
It only means that the only thing unrealistic fears can do in our daily lives is destroy our confidence and faith in God. If you have too many worries and unrealistic fears in your life, you usually can’t live normally. You will keep bothering yourself with many questions that mostly have no answers because of unrealistic fears, which in reality don’t really exist. It’s just that your eyes of faith are being blocked by fear, making your eyes fail to see the blessings of God in your life.
The question now is: How can we avoid unrealistic fears? First of all, in my opinion, all you have to do is avoid harboring your problems in your heart. If you encounter a problem in your life, instead of freaking out, you must focus on working out the best solution to fix it. This is why all scientists become successful with their projects; they are not afraid to fail. They are always ready to find solutions for every problem they encounter during their research. Likewise, we should not worry too much or keep asking ourselves why we are experiencing hardships in life. Instead, find a solution. Work on it. Figure out the reason and cause of the problem so that you can find the best way to resolve the issues.
Instead of giving up, knocking your head and chest, and blaming yourself, you must strengthen your faith in God and believe in Him. God will make a way whenever it seems there is no way. By doing this, you show God your full trust, and surely He will give you the wisdom to face all the challenges in your life.
I hope this simple and short article has helped you understand that unrealistic fears in our hearts must be completely removed. Pray to God for help and guidance, and allow Him to be in control of our lives so that we can face all the challenges we encounter.
